ICELAND NORTH WEST
In Iceland it seems the ground beneath You is changing by the very moment – and it literally is. If you wish to witness ephemeral landscapes no place is better than the highly active volcanic island in the middle of the North Atlantic.
Iceland is part of the Mid Atlantic Ridge – a volcanic active mountain range running along the Atlantic Ocean floor separating the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. Iceland is in essence the peak of a mountain protruding through the waves. The landscape is captivating and it is so special to being able to see with the naked eye, how water currents, volcanic eruptions and a violent climate is shaping the natural surroundings of the islanders.
Throughout the trip I have focused of the interrelation between man and coastal nature. Here, however, the nature is so mighty that the relation seems to be one sided only. I will therefore just let the photos of Icelands natural trasures speak for themselves witout any interruptions of will or intention. Starting with the North.
